Originally prompted by the extreme violence in Palestine that left an 8-month old baby dead, Rightly Horrified has continued to bring concerned artists together around the most painful and pressing issues of our political moment. With the installation of right-wing judges onto the Supreme Court, concerns around abortion access have mounted. The recent wave of abortion bans galvanized a new set of contributing artists to come together for this new volume of experimental electronics.
As we know, these abortion bans and further restrictions will harm low-income communities, people of color, and our trans loved ones the most -- especially those with intersecting identities. For these reasons, Knife Play - Curating from Hell chose Access Reproductive Care-Southeast, a QTPOC-led reproductive justice org on the ground in Atlanta, as the recipient of all proceeds.
"ARC believes that every individual deserves an opportunity to secure a sustainable and non-oppressive life regardless of any real or socially-constructed characteristics that may traditionally limit one from doing so. Likewise, we believe that every individual deserves the right to make informed decisions about their lives and chosen families. Therefore, in an effort to promote equality for individuals in the South who may not be equipped with the necessary tools to access reproductive care, we are committed to helping those individuals by providing assistance and creating awareness in Reproductive Justice and Human Rights in the South."
